Mmmm...

The future hubs and I went to meet with the caterer yesterday. I'm so hungry now, just thinking about it. I'm also hungry now because I haven't had lunch yet, but let's not worry about that.

So. Menu. Buffet-style. Mashed potatoes, at my request. Garlic mashed potatoes. Yummm... Sure it might be considered sort of heavy for an outdoor, mid-afternoon, summer wedding. Too bad! I love me some mashed potatoes! So does the FH so it sounds delightful to us.

Other food we will most likely be serving: salmon w/a lemon beurre blanc sauce, tri-tip in a mushroom marsala sauce, vegetable crudités, a fruit platter, asparagus, and CAKE! Hooray for cake!
Boo for ridiculous cake cutting fees though. This venue charges an exorbitant amount to have someone cut the cake for us, which we really don't understand. How hard can it possibly be?! Maybe I should get that job during the summer. Based on what we're paying the venue, I would earn about $200/hr.

We discussed the bar sitch yesterday as well. We'll have a hosted bar, but we're only offering one kind of beer, a few wines, and possibly a signature cocktail. And lemonade. Also sherbet punch. How is that not perfect and fun for a summer wedding? Growing up, that used to be my favorite "special" drink that my mom would make. Oh, also coffee, tea and water are just included.

Now that I think about it I think there will be more drink options than food options, but I guess that's ok. I'm anticipating some heat, so a nice cool beverage selection should be a good thing. Other than the FH and I being pescetarians and my bridesmaid/bff being practically vegan, I think there will be a decent enough assortment of foodstuffs to tide everyone over. And as long as I get my mashed potatoes, I guess I really won't worry too much about it.

What was your favorite dish served at a wedding? Anything you get tired of? I don't go to very many weddings, so I'm sort of out on a limb with all this planning. Let me know what you think!
